Eden's Green Room
11.17.11 | The calendar pushed us head-on towards the cold-spiced winds of winter, we took a few hours to honor the sacrifices plump turkeys were making across the country. We came out to the Eden's Green Room where warm conversation was a subtle substitute for the crackling hearth of home. Click on any of the images below to feel the glowing warmth from the night's smiles!
Redskins FedEx Field
10.06.11 | Football Season arrived and TIPS had an exclusive invitation for you. We were cordially invited to the Audi Club at FedEx Field for a cocktail reception followed by a behind the scenes tour of the stadium. We got close up and personal with the home of the Redskins in an evening which included a private tour of the Redskins locker room. District
9.13.11 | Summer was far too short and yet some summer days were longer than sunrays. Long or short, the summer simply slipped away. As the days got shorter and shorter, TIPS breathed life into your nights. We celebrated the transition of the seasons with a cocktail party played out in District Nightclub. Policy
7.14.11 | TIPS offered a policy decision that everyone got excited about. We came out for a night of hot summer connections at Policy’s Liberty Lounge. With an airy second floor, the Liberty Lounge offered a breezy, summer TIPS-ing night.Setting the mood and movement of the night, the lounge’s massive Graffiti mural screamed Liberty! And so did we. Eden
6.08.11 | The garden gates were unsealed for a night of Ivy leisure & play! This rooftop garden around the corner from Faragut Square was full of the lush trappings of paradise. An indoor waterfall and a rush of whispering foliage brushed away the hard concrete lines of D.C. Click on any of the thumbnails below to launch a slideshow of the night's smiles.
Biergarten Haus
4.11.11 | TIPS had a very special event this April to benefit the victims of the March 11th earthquake and tsunami that devastated our friends across the sea. Thanks to the TIPS Alum that came out to drink and socialize, we were able to raise money and donate all the profits to the Red Cross' relief efforts in Japan! Rocket Bar
3.24.11 | Spring had arrived and we all gladly embraced or inner nine-year-old to celebrate! Rocket Bar is reminiscent of every kids dream basement, but with booze. They have pool tables, skee-ball, shuffleboard, darts and jukeboxes - that actually take credit cards! Add to that the lure of $2 PBR and a gaggle of fun Ivy Plus alums, and we had some march madness of our very own. Click on the photos below to check out all of the beautiful, talented and gaming TIPSers.
L2 Lounge
2.16.11 | L2 Lounge -- February is the month when the Hallmark company wants you to feel bad about being alone -- and tries to convince you that a $4, pre-inscribed greeting card is the most authentic, creative way to express your true feelings toward your significant other(s). It's quite a racket, and we're very impressed. TIPS humbly presented an alternative: Grab a single friend and bring him or her to the L2 Lounge. There were plenty of well-educated, dynamic, over-achievers eager to chase away the Valentine's Day blues. Those who played their cards right got hit by Cupid's arrow. Redline
1.19.11 | Redline -- TIPSters had the opportunity to experience yet another of man's most revolutionary inventions; the self service personal draft beer tap! Penn Quarter's newest entertainment destination "Redline" is DC's first luxe sports-bar and was the location for our inaugural Ivy Plus Society event of 2011. We took the opportunity to make new friends, share holiday tales of woe with old ones and get a drink without having to push through the crowd. Policy
12.1.10 | Policy -- Ivy Plus-ers jumped in their one-horse open sleighs and, laughing all the way, joined up with their favorite young alums for a night of sparkly cocktails and holiday festivities! DC's coolest lounge venue where brilliant chandeliers combine with a red and black palette to create a super sultry ambiance, was the ideal environment to mingle and get our holiday cheer on! Private Redskins Party
10.21.10 | FedEx Field -- Football season arrived and TIPS had a very exclusive invitation for you. The Washington Redskins hosted a private party just for TIPS in the elite Audi Club at FedExField. TIPS alums were treated to a behind-the-scenes stadium tour including a rare chance to check out the players' locker room, a meet-and-greet with the First Ladies of Football Cheerleaders, free drinks, delish food, and a raffle for unique Redskins memorabilia. From the Audi Club to the field, TIPS alums rocked the stadium! Click on any of the thumbnails below to launch a photo slideshow.

Eden
09.22.10 | September is a time for new beginnings in DC: over-subscribed grad schools, ghost-written political memoirs, and breathtakingly disingenuous attack ads. All of which made the venue for our back-to-school extravaganza all the more fitting: Eden, the birthplace of original sin. We enjoyed the rooftop of DC's hottest new open-air club as we paid tribute to the garden that People of the Book love to hate. Click on any of the thumbnails below to launch a slideshow of the night's pictures.

K Street Lounge
6.24.10 | K Street Lounge -- The senate passed the financial-reform bill, which meant the start of the real fun: Watering down all the provisions that pose any threat of, you know, reforming the financial system. To do that of course, you need lobbyists. Lots and lots of lobbyists. And where better to find them than ... K Street? Which is -- conveniently -- where we hosted this month's TIPS party: It was the K Street lounge. We came on out and tossed back a few with some young alum friends -- before there were no provisions left to weaken.

One Lounge
5.20.10 | One Lounge -- Drink prices in Dupont Circle have been edging inexorably skyward ever since neighborhood bars realized that Carrie Bradshaw-wannabees exist in the nation's capital, too. Yes, we feel your pain. Message: We care. This month TIPS struck a blow against the $27 Cosmo-tini by unfurling our banner at One Lounge -- home of the best high-class happy hour in town.
We enjoyed specialty martini for the price of a beer and micro-brew beers for the price of fries. Call it the recession special. Good thing you we got here when we did: We hear economic recovery is right around the corner. And once that happens, Cosmo prices have nowhere to go but up...
